Wizards fire Eddie Jordan
After a 1-10 start in Washington, the Wizards have fired coach Eddie Jordan. Jordan is being replaced by Ed Tapscott, who was director of player development.
Jordan is the second NBA coach to be fired in the first month of the NBA season. After starting 1-12, P.J. Carlesimo was fired by the Oklahoma City Thunder.
I understand that the team is struggling more than it should even without Gilbert Arenas, who made some ridiculous comments about landing a top draft pick next year, and Brendan Haywood. However, I think Jordan deserved more leeway.

"That's an unacceptable record, obviously," team president Ernie Grunfeld said. "We thought the change needed to be made. We needed to do things a little bit different."With the exception of Jordan's first season (2003-04) with the team, he hasn't had a full season with a losing record as the Wizards coach. The team was .500 or better in the past 4 full seasons and has made the playoffs in each of those seasons. Before Jordan joined the Wizards, the team was under .500 5 straight seasons and 13 out of 16 seasons.
"It just felt like we were going in the wrong direction," Grunfeld said. "It felt a little bit stale and we needed to freshen it up."
"We're better than 1-10. We know it. But we're all responsible," Tapscott said at a news conference, a whistle dangling from a string around his neck.
