Grizzlies sign Darius Miles to 2nd 10-day contract
The Memphis Grizzlies have signed forward Darius Miles, coming off what was deemed a "career-ending" knee injury, to a second 10-day contract.
By playing 3 games in his first contract, that triggered a hit to the Blazers for $18 million for the final 2 years that were remaining on Miles' contract. The Blazers have threatened to file a lawsuit against any team that signed Miles.
No action has been taken by the league or the players' union. Considering that Miles has played 5 games and was re-signed after triggering the salary hit after 2 games, it doesn't appear to have been done to stick it to the Blazers.

"But the reality of the situation is that we were able to put things back in place, and he signed. Had someone not decided to sign him because of the e-mail, we'd take a different posture. But he hasn't suffered any damage or loss," [NBA Players' Union President Billy] Hunter said.Miles has played 5 games this season and is averaging 5 ppg and 2.2 rpg.
