Heat retire Mourning's 33
The Miami Heat honored Alonzo Mourning by retiring his number 33 tonight.
Mourning, who was drafted by the Charlotte Hornets in 1992, spent the majority of his career with the Heat. But he played in Charlotte and New Jersey as well.

"The fight in New York, the injuries, the torn muscles, the operation, it was worth it just to experience June 20, 2006," he said. "That was one of the most exhilarating moments of my life."It was in his second stint with the Heat that he won an NBA championship (2006).
"I understand the journey I had to take," Mourning said. "I really do. We never really know why we go through things until we get to a certain stage of my life. Now I know why I had to go through that to understand where I am now.Mourning ranks 10th all-time in blocks (2,356) and was named NBA Defensive Player of the Year in 1999 and 2000.
"The old saying is you don't know where you're going until you know where you've been. I definitely know where I've been, know what I had to deal with."
