Dampier threatens Parker

Dallas Mavericks center Erick Dampier has shown why he's an idiot.

After San Antonio Spurs PG Tony "Mr. Eva Longoria" Parker lit up the Mavs for 38 points (27 of them in the first half), Dampier issued a "guarantee." Come in the lane and pay the price.
"Parker got into the teeth of our defense and caused problems," he said. "Every time he drives the lane, we have to put him on his back. The first foul has to tell him he's in for a long night.

"My first foul Thursday night is going to put him on his back. I guarantee it."
Playoff basketball is meant to be physical. And I have nothing against the no-layup rule. But to talk about it ahead of time could only mean one thing.

Yep, the NBA is looking into Dampier's comments and, of course, will be watching him closely in Thursday's game three.
