Grizzlies coach: Amaré not Shaq, LeBron or Kobe
Memphis Grizzlies head coach Lionel Hollins is happy that his team didn't trade for Phoenix Suns forward Amaré Stoudemire.
The Grizzlies were offering Rudy Gay, Mike Conley and a first-round pick for Stoudemire.
And since the All-Star break, Conley has been playing very well (15.0 ppg, 5.6 apg).
The Grizzlies have the fifth-worst record in the NBA and should get a high lottery pick.
There is no way that Stoudemire would have been better than a combined Gay, Conley and whoever the Grizz draft with their first pick this year. I completely agree with Hollins.

"You can make a trade like that and it looks good on the surface but we're not a winning team," said Hollins. The Grizzlies currently have the NBA's rookie leading scorer in OJ Mayo (18.4 ppg). He trails only Gay (18.9 ppg) on the team in scoring.
"You're trading your nucleus for one player who's probably not going to take you over the hump. I love Amaré Stoudemire as a player but he's not Shaq (Shaquille O'Neal) when Shaq was in his prime. He's not LeBron James. He's not Kobe Bryant. Even those guys need players around them."
