Jayson Williams tasered after suicide attempt?

According to the New York Post, police tasered former-NBA player Jayson Williams, who was described by a female friend as "suicidal" and "violent," in a NYC hotel at 4 a.m. this morning.

In his suite at the hotel, Williams was found drunk with empty sleeping pill bottles and suicide notes. The police have taken Williams to a psychiatric hospital for evaluations.
"He was barricaded, drinking, taking pills. He was overwhelmed," a police source said. "It all came crashing down."
Williams is facing a nasty divorce and retrial from the 2002 trial for shooting his chauffeur. In the divorce papers, his wife claimed that he was "abusive, adulterous and had a drug problem" according to FoxSports.com. In addition, Williams was distraught over his parents' illnesses.
"Jayson is doing fine. He said he was fine," said Akhtar Farzaie, his manager and friend, outside the hospital emergency room. "All of us are here to be by his side."
The sister of Costas "Gus" Christofi, who was Williams' chauffeur, believes that Williams didn't really attempt to commit suicide. Instead, she believes it's "just another ploy to get sympathy from the public and postpone the retrial."
