Suns, Gentry agree to new deal

The Phoenix Suns and Alvin Gentry have agreed to a deal that will keep Gentry in Phoenix as head coach.

Gentry will receive a two-year deal worth $3.7 million and the Suns have an option for a third year.
"We can focus now on what we need to do to get better and get back to a team that everyone feared and one that made the playoffs," said Gentry.

"We're going to play exciting basketball," Gentry said. "We've got to get back to the playoffs. Defensively, we have to implement things that will give us some consistency."
Gentry, who was 18-13 as an "interim" coach, has retained the services of assistant coaches Bill Cartwright, Dan Majerle and Igor Kokoskov.
