The Sunday Fix

While handing out hurricane preparedness kits Saturday, Hornets PG Chris Paul told Larry Holder of the New Orleans Times-Picayune: "I think (there's a need to improve) just all around. It was such an up-and-down season for us. A lot of people would say that just our bench needs to get better. We all have to get better as a collective unit. Definitely our bench has to get stronger. Our first unit, we get down in a lot of games early, so I say it starts with me."

Bill Plaschke of the Los Angeles Times calls Lamar Odom the "perfect complement to Bryant's attack."

Sekou Smith of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution writes that Zaza Pachuilia's days in Atlanta could be numbered as the free-agency period begins July 1st.

Bobcats coach Larry Brown says about MJ: “I came here because of Michael. He's special and he's great to be around. We need him engaged and involved. He's the guy that hired me. You don't know who's coming in here and how they'd feel about the job we did or our capabilities.”

Per Fred Kerber of the New York Post, Devin Harris says the Nets "need a third point guard" and Harris likes the thought of the Nets drafting Jonny Flynn of Syracuse.

Tim Buckley of the Deseret News says the Pistons may be more interested in Paul Millsap than Carlos Boozer, who can opt of the final year of his contract.

Mark "Action" Jackson said of his buddy Stephon Marbury: "I didn't agree the way it was handled in New York. In New York, I'm very proud of the way he handled it, kept himself ready, the way he was a professional. The way he quieted a lot of critics."

The Golden State Warriors, who have the seventh overall pick, brought six players in for a workout - Louisville forward Earl Clark, Wake Forest forward James Johnson, USC guard Marcus Johnson, Clemson guard K.C. Rivers, LSU guard Garrett Temple and DePaul guard Dar Tucker.

The Kings worked out a lighter and quicker DeJuan Blair. "I stopped eating a lot of bad food," Blair said. "I don't know if it's bad for you, but it was for me. Used the DeJuan Blair diet: high protein, steaks, salmon, lots of water. Disciplined myself what to eat. I feel lighter on my feet, and the strength is still there. That ain't going anywhere."
