Jason Kidd - New York or Dallas?
Per Frank Isola of the NY Daily News, free-agent point guard Jason Kidd has an offer on the table from the New York Knicks and the Dallas Mavericks that are both for three years.
However, there is a large difference in the value of the offers - roughly $12 million, according to Isola. The Knicks offered Kidd $18 million while the Mavericks offered between $25 and $30 million.
For both the Knicks and Kidd, it would make more sense for Kidd to sign with Dallas.
Although Kidd may believe that he can help lure LeBron James to New York when LeBron becomes a free agent after the upcoming season, I still feel that LeBron will stay in Cleveland.
And does Kidd really want to leave $12 million on the table to play for a team that will win much fewer games than the Mavs?
For the Knicks, with or without Kidd, they won't be a serious contender in 2009-10. At best, they get into the playoffs as a low seed with Kidd and are one-and-done.
Everything the team's been doing in the Walsh era has been to prepare them for the 2010-11 season. Why deviate from that plan now?
If LeBron wants to play with an aging superstar, he can just stay in Cleveland and play with Shaq.
